Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals and European Federation of National Maintenance Societies

PRESS RELEASE
June 2009

SMRP and EFNMS Sign Joint Business Plan

Brussels/EFNMS/- T he EFNMSvzw (European Federation of National Maintenance Societies) and the SMRP (Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals) signed their first joint agreement to develop and market a compilation of global maintenance and reliability indicators (Figure 1 & 2).

The signature on the agreement is the first common distribution activity between the European and the North American Maintenance Community, and is the first step to increased collaboration and standardization for the benefit of the members in SMRP and EFNMS.

The document will contain those indicators in the European Standard EN 15341 "Maintenance Key Performance Indicators" which have been harmonized to the SMRP metrics.
Harmonized indicators are those which are similar between the SMRP and EN 15431, and those for which any differences can be identified. The harmonized indicators provide a common platform for global organizations to benchmark their facilities across borders.

The harmonization effort has been underway by the SMRP Best Practices Committee and EFNMS Benchmarking Committee for the past three years, and resulted in publication of the first edition of the "Global Maintenance and Reliability Indicators" at Euromaintenance 2008. These indicators are also used in international benchmarking workshops sponsored by the EFNMS.

A benchmarking workshop based on the harmonized indicators will be offered to the maintenance community at the Euromaintenance Conference in Verona, Italy in May 2010.
Copies of the first edition of the "Global Maintenance and Reliability Indicators" are available from the Bemas office. www.bemas.org
